We continue to be amazed how fast the field of endoscopic surgery is growing. Nowadays it allows surgeons to offer least invasive treatment modalities for diseases that in former times required extensive surgical procedures.
I have the pleasure to invite you to take part in a workshop that addresses the new developments of endoscopic treatment for rectal and anal diseases. With the help of Karl Storz we offer you the possibility to take part in theoretical sessions presented by experimented international experts, we offer you hands-on practical courses with the TEO(Transanal Endoscopic Operations) and VAAFT(Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment) systems and live operations performed by the invited experts.
Cluj Napoca is also an interesting city where the romanian, hungarian and german communities have created together a warm and cosy atmosphere.
I invite you to come to Cluj for a succesful professional and interesting personal experience. I am sure that your time spent as participant at this workshop will be a clever investment in your future professional development.
Thank you!

Continous development of minimally invasive surgical techniques opened new perspective for the local treatment of anal and rectal diseases.
In the ‘90 Buess described the principles of transanal endoscopic surgery which allowed adequate access to middle and upper rectal tumors for proper dissection, excision and suturing. Now, with the TEO set developed by Karl Storz you have all the instruments you need to resect “full-thickness” rectal tumors in “one-piece” though a minimally-invasive transanal approach, avoiding the morbidity of a transabdominal access and the risks of “piece meal” endoscopic resections.
Conventional surgical management of anal fistulas is often hampered by the risk of iatrogenic sphincter injuries and the high rate of local recidive. The VAAFT set facilitates identification of the internal opening and debridement of the fistula tract under constant vision and is expected to set up new standards for the surgical treatment of this disease.
We propose a two-days workshop intended to give you an extensive insight of these two diseases and their surgical management. Apart from the possibility to benefit from hands-on practice with the TEO and VAAFT sets, the highlight of this course is the presence of two renowned international experts: Dr. X Serra is one of the most experienced european transanal endoscopic surgeon while dr. P Meinero is the inventor of the VAAFT set.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Cluj Napoca.
Thank you!
